The Myth of Raised Taxes

Over the past 17 years, in talking with some residents of the Pottstown/Boyertown vicinity (at our bake sales and at local township meetings) we have heard comments that our opposition to the proposed hard-rock quarry, hot-mix asphalt plant, and ready-mix concrete facility, will significantly affect the taxes collected by New Hanover Township and Montgomery County.

During budget discussions in the fall of 2017, the Board of Supervisors noted that there has been no increase in the General Fund tax rate since 1993.

It appears that the myth of increased taxes (due to the legal fees incurred because of the fight against the quarry) is just that, a myth.
