How much longer is this gonna take?
(Updated April 27, 2007)

Gibraltar 1

At the February 2007 meeting, after the residents had concluded their comments, the board determined that the following would happen.

  1. All parties would submit (by April 16, 2007) to the Zoning Hearing Board, their "proposed findings of fact" and "conclusions of law," which is their report on what they consider to be the main points and main legal issues.

  2. Closing arguments will be held May 3, 2007 at 7PM in the Township Building.

  3. The Zoning Hearing Board then has 45 days to render their decision.

The Paradise Watchdogs have decided that they will allow GR1 to conclude without much comment. Our true fight is with the larger 240+ acre proposed quarry. So, we have decidec to not submit a proposed finding of fact etc.---instead we plan to wait until the conclusion of GR2.

Gibraltar 2

There's no way of knowing how long GR2 will continue. Check this Web site periodically.

What YOU Can Do

There are five things you can do:

  • Speak up! Keep checking back to this Web site and subscribe to our emailing list to find out when it is time for residents to give their opinions.  When it's time, please come to the meetings and tell the zoning board what you feel.  Tell them about your respiratory problems and other health problems that can be exacerbated by quarry dust. Tell them about your displeasure over additional traffic, tell them about your concerns over your well water...just tell them what you think---it means a lot to the board, who are your neighbors, and represent you.

  • You can help by continuing to support the Paradise Watchdogs with your generous contributions and by attending our events and buying our raffle tickets.

  • You can write or email the township supervisors and tell them where you stand on this issue. Your supervisors are:

    • Martin Dyas (Chairman)

    • David Paul Brown

    • Ralph Fluharty

    • Doug Mueller

    • Andrew Kelly

Send your letters to them personally or c/o New Hanover Township, 2943 N. Charlotte St., Gilbertsville, PA 19525.

  • You can write to the local newspapers editorial pages to voice your concern.

  • You can attend the Zoning Hearing Board meetings and sign our online petition.
Let us know if you have other questions we might answer, and thanks for your continued support.
