New Hanover Township Taxes |

Several members of the Paradise Watchdogs have recently been subject to comments that township taxes have increased due to the ongoing issues surrounding the proposed hard-rock quarry in the township. After further investigation of this rumor, we have learned that general fund taxes have not increased since 1993, and the fire tax has not increased since 2005. ANOTHER MYTH In talking to some residents of the Pottstown/Boyertown vicinity, we have heard comments that our opposition to the proposed hard-rock quarry, hot-mix asphalt plant, and ready-mix concrete facility, will significantly affect the taxes collected by New Hanover Township and Montgomery County. We do not believe that to be true. Let’s take a look at neighboring Marlborough Township, home of the Highway Materials quarry on Crusher Road. The 92+ acre quarry had estimated taxes in 2009 of $1,478 for the municipality and $1,626 for the county. The school district taxes were estimated at $12,500. |
