WE REPORTED MAJOR ERRORS
IN THE POTTSTOWN MERCURY’S PUBLISHED SUMMARY OF THE MARCH 16
MEETING IN NEW HANOVER TOWNSHIP . . . . . . Upon further investigation we have learned that some of the information provided to the Mercury was in error, specifically that the mining operation would be limited to 60.9 acres. The Mercury reporter gleaned this information from an incorrect Gibraltar Rock map which was presented at the March 16 meeting. Earlier this week with our prompting, the township agreed to re-calculate the actual acreage to be mined, and upon arriving at a total of approximately 107 acres, contacted Gibraltar Rock, Inc. with a request for verification from an engineer. That same day Gibraltar’s attorney confirmed the error and promised that a corrected map (showing 105+ acres for mining) will be available for review at the Monday, March 30, Board of Supervisors meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. at the New Hanover Township Fire House, on Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville. The Board will allow interested parties to present questions and/or comments to the Board and attending counsel. We hope you will take time to review the proposed stipulation agreement that has been made available for the residents. You may read the entire proposed agreement on the township’s website – www.newhanover-pa.org WE ALSO HOPE YOU WILL COME OUT ON MONDAY, MARCH 30, AND VOICE YOUR OPINION OF THIS PROPOSED AGREEMENT! (Meeting will be held at 6:30 pm at the New Hanover Township Fire House on Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville) |
